New Appointments: Chef Marc Toutain as Executive Chef

(Hong Kong, 22 October 2010) – Chef Marc Toutain joins Harbour Grand Kowloon as Executive Chef with distinct culinary mastery. This new executive chef has made a name for himself in Hong Kong with stints at some of the cities best restaurants.

In his new role, Chef Toutain oversees all six food outlets at the hotel, including Harbour Grill, The Promenade, Waterfront Bar & Terrace, Robatayaki, Corner Café, Whampoa Lounge, as well as private dining services and the hotel’s catering operations.

Culinary Career

Known for his unrelenting creativity in the kitchen, French national Chef Toutain started his culinary career in 1986 after graduating from the distinguished Lycée Commercial et Hôtelier Maurice Marland. Apprenticing in some of Paris’ most respected hotels he spent five years with Le Méridien Group in Paris, Boston and Abu Dhabi where he then cooked for many dignitaries and heads of states. Chef Toutain is also a member of Cordon Bleu and Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.

In 1995, he moved to Hong Kong to join a respected hotel chain as Executive Sous Chef where he headed the revamping of all the hotel’s eateries. Later, as Executive Chef he applied his culinary expertise to open the award winning AVENUE Restaurant.

He joins Harbour Grand Kowloon as Executive Chef bringing his unique passion for real, honest food that’s authentic and speaks to the senses. “Cooking is my culture, part of me – not my job.”
