Harbour Grand Kowloon Resident Pastry Chef Wins Gold Metal for Hong Kong
Harbour Grand Kowloon is pleased to announce that Resident Pastry Chef, Mr. Ken Lee and his team won FIRST place, bringing home a 25kg gold trophy from Thailand’s biggest hospitality art competition and showcase – the Pattaya City Culinary Cup 2013.
Mr. Ken Lee is part of the Culinary National Team of the Hong Kong Chefs Association, an organisation that gathers the city’s top talents to compete in world-class competitions. The association’s mission of raising the city’s status as a culinary capital in Asia is widely supported by the government, Federation of Hotel Owners, Hong Kong Hotels Association, Vocational Training Council, Hospitality Industry Training and Development Centre, and the Chinese Cuisine Training Institute.
The two day competition required the participating teams to create a buffet with 10 additional plated meals (serving 20 persons) from a box of unknown ingredients to be completed within four hours. Participants were also required to follow strict food and presentation guidelines and were judged by a panel of international judges.
In response to winning first place, Ken said: “I am honoured to be part of Hong Kong’s Culinary National Team and to be working alongside the best of the best. Competing against teams from 17 countries and regions was tough but exciting. However, I would like to thank Mr. Jonathan Wilson for his support. Without his support, this achievement would not have been made possible”.

To celebrate the award-winning Caramel Banana Chocolate Crunch cake, it will be offered at a special price of $170 per pound at the Corner Café during the month of August, and followed by the Raspberry Chocolate Crunch cake in September.
